WORDS | | | It's a little long, for a rapid thing, but I figured it's first post. |
I hear your voice in my sleep at night, hard to resist temptation About a month prior to todayStaring at the windows of the stores, it wasn't hard to tell that Lennon was alone. In a place like New York City, it always seemed like someone was keeping their eye on you. Of course you could never quite pinpoint who, but that wasn't the scary bit. The scary part was that Lennon was alone in a very large city she had never been to. She had known what she had come to find in NYC, but to her knowledge who she was seeking out had no clue she was even there. Which made it even better. Surprising him would be her best option for now. She stared into the window of the shop, of course it had to be a designer dress store. Her mind haunting her of the wedding she might not ever have. She didn't want to look like a tourist, but kept a small map tucked away in her jacket's pocket. Lennon stared at the window for a moment, and just as she began to move, someone crashed into her with force. Almost knocking her to the ground, Lenny regained her step, and glared at the man who had walked into her. "Excuse you!" Her voice a little angry, but not too bad. Realizing that the man was still brushing himself off. "Hey there, sorry about that. I should have been looking where I was going." Lenny nodded fiercely, as the man finally looked her in the eyes. A wide smile crossed his face, but it wasn't a kind smile. It was like the kind of smile that a predator would have as they are circling their prey. "Well, I wish I ran into girls who look like you everyday. Hey honey, you look a little too alone for this big city. Let me make it up to you, and walk you home." Lennon instantly tensed as she watched his eyes seem to undress her without actually doing so. She was trying to focus but her mind was racing. Trying to keep her voice sounding normal, and strong. "No, I actually am perfectly fine, really. I'm just waiting for someone."Proud of the fact that she was able to say it with confidence. "Oh, but honey, it doesn't seem like anyone's looking for you." Just as Lennon looked back up to the stranger's face, his grin had turned devious. Before she knew it, he had grabbed her wrist. His grip tight enough that it was making tears well up in Lennon's eyes. "Don't cry, I know you've been looking for me doll. I'll take good care of you don't worry." At that moment, he pulled her in closer to him. Lennon's eyes darting around behind him to see anyone familiar, but everyone seemed to be avoiding her glances. "No, really please. My boyfriend is looking for me, he's going to be pissed if he sees you doing this to me. Let me go, and you won't have to deal with him." Of course Lennon was lying through her teeth, she had no boyfriend looking for her. Hell, her ex-fiance didn't even know she was in the city. Her heart was almost leaping out of her chest, he had pulled her in closer to him. Her mind racing, thinking that she might not get out of this alive, and Zeus wouldn't have even saw her. Lennon was at the point of tears. Her wrist had surely taken some damage, and it was hurting. 'Oh darling, don't cry. I'll make you love what I do to you." As he wiped one of her tears away with his opposite hand, she realized his head was closer. Thinking of the first thing she could do, she lifted her knee up with force, missing the spot she was praying for. Although it was enough to make him look down, and at this point Lenny did the first thing she could think of. Breaking the grip while he was in some pain, sure to recover quickly, Lennon ran. She watched after herself, the man was answering some woman's question about what was wrong. His answer scared her, so she took off once again. Turning her head to look behind her once again, he was gaining on her. Lennon couldn't exactly run, the streets were busy and he obviously knew them better than her. At that moment though she turned her head back forward to see where she was going. It couldn't have been any better timing. The black clothes, the hair, those muscular arms, Lennon imagined his tender brown eyes. It had to be Zeus, it just had to be. Of course he seemed to be nearing a Starbucks. 'Coffee of course. Thank the gods for coffee.' She thought. Out of nowhere she found her voice, hoping to gain his attention. "Zeus! Zee!" Shouting, praying that she caught his attention. Lennon didn't even care how much she was crying, as she approached Zeus. At the last moment she stretched out her arms just as she collided with his chest. Catching her breathe, she was going to have to talk through tears. "Zee, please. Don't let him near me. Just believe me, please." Tears streaming down her face, she lifted up her wrist. It was bright red with a hand print wrapped around it. She could see the bruise already forming. "I don't know what he was going to try to do to me, but..." She couldn't even finish her phrase. Although she saw the man slowly approaching, and Lennon squeaked in sheer fear. 'Cause something strange has come over me, and now I can’t get over you

Lennon Dawes. Yeah, he was thinking about her. But then to be fair, when wasn't he thinking about her. Maybe Lennon could have walked out of his life like it was no big deal, but zeus couldn't go a single day without thinking about her. She was always there, behind every train of thought, there was always a lenny memory waiting to ambush him. He couldn't help but they no about how much she probably would have enjoyed New York. About how much she would have enjoyed walking with him as they discovered all the books and crannies and secrets that the city kept hidden from all but the locals. Sure, the city wasn't Greece. But it was nice in its own way. He would have loved to have taken lenny to a Broadway show, to watch her eyes light up over to hustle and bustle of the city, to glare at some jack ass who tried to grab her ass as they were walking past. Discovering the city just wasn't the same without the love of his life by his side. It couldn't be helped of course, he couldn't bring lenny back to him now. He'd failed her and now he was forced to suffer the consequences. He was making his way to a Starbucks when he thought he heard her voice, speaking his name. Coffee had become a new addiction of his as of late. Hearing her voice wasn't strange and hearing her saying his name was even more common. It was just a fragment of missing her, one he'd grown used to over time. He didn't realize that she was actually there until she collided with him. Even then, the first thing he saw wasn't her, but the terror in the eyes he knew so well, the eyes his heart yearned to look into every time he felt alone. His body reacted automatically to her terror, pulling her close to him, uttering a soft shh and a 'it's okay, you're safe with me l. I promise. ' he was about to walk out when he saw the red mark on Lenny's arm and the man walking towards them. He pushed lenny behind him carefully, gently, pressing a kiss to her forehead. Then he turned to look at the man, who was almost close enough to touch. Anger rang throughout his figure and everything was a little more red than usual. As the male got closer, zeus glared and swung a fist to punch him in the head. ▲

I hear your voice in my sleep at night, hard to resist temptation Lennon didn't even know how Zeus would react. She wasn't honestly thinking clearly, the woman probably looked like she saw a ghost. Although, Lennon had never dealt with someone coming after her like that. Sure there were whistles, and people trying to grab her ass. But Zeus had always been there to stare down those guys. This guy, was persistent. He wanted to get a hold of Lennon, and she wasn't sure if she could fight him off if it came down to it. Lennon was kind of small, in height and frame. Zeus on the other hand, was almost a foot taller than her, and had muscle. If you said the wrong thing about Lennon, his eyes seemed to glow red. She had seen him scare off some guys before, but she had never seen his anger the way it was now. Sure he was calm with her, trying to get her to calm down obviously. But she had never dealt with someone like this. Zeus pushed her behind him, the only thing you could see of Lenny if you looked them straight on was her head peeking out from behind him. Pushing her hands in her pockets, and trying to keep her eyes on either Zeus or the ground. Not wanting to see the look in that man's eyes again. As Lennon looked at the ground, counting to ten, trying to catch her breathe. Trying to make sense of why someone would do that to a woman. She no longer saw Zeus' outline in front of her. It was then she heard a thud, her eyes shot up, making sure that it wasn't Zeus would had been hurt. Breathing a small sigh of relief, the man had been struck. He hadn't gone down to the ground, but he looked a bit shaken. Lennon took a step back farther. Making sure that he didn't see her right away. If this guy didn't back down, Lenny did not want to see what Zeus would be willing to do to protect her. After all the things she had put him through, and he was still protecting her. Making herself feel horrible that she had even left in the first place. But that's why she was here, to try to make amends. To show him she was wrong. Lennon could have never imagined finding him in New York City like this. Although, she was certainly glad she found him. Thanking his gods and her own in her mind. Her attention went back to Zeus, having not heard anything from him in a few moments. Worried that somehow Zeus had been hit or hurt. But he always held his own, she'd never seen him back down. There he was still standing tall, the other man still seemed out of it. 'Cause something strange has come over me, and now I can’t get over you
Zeus had never understood the expression "seeing red." It was some silly American phrase of sorts. But with lenny behind him, terrified, and her attacker having approached him, he finally did. Had he been an animal, his teeth would have been bared, fully prepared to kill the man who had laid a hand on lenny. As it was, a growl slid out of his mouth. And then he'd swung a fist and it landed squarely on the other mans jaw. It was enough to knock the man to the ground, clutching his jaw. Any other time, it would have been enough to see this. But the terror in Lenny's eyes and the red marks on her wrist propelled him forward. He lunged forward as the man regained his footing, this time aiming to push him against the wall of the nearest building. With that accomplished, all zeus could think about was killing the man in front of him, making him regret the day he put a single hand on Lennon Vera Dawes. He snarled, as much as any human could, and wrapped his hands around the mans throat. He would have threatened the man, but no threats seemed worthy enough. He watched as the man gasped for air, ignoring the murmurs of the other people, some scrambling for their phones to call the cops. It didn't matter though. Lenny's terror flashed in his mind. That was all it took. He'd always said he would kill anyone who hurt her, but he didn't think anyone had believed him then. But surely they would believe him now. ▲
I hear your voice in my sleep at night, hard to resist temptation Lenny wasn't focused on Zeus for two seconds. Two seconds of staring down at her wrist, of course it had been the one with her newest tattoo. The bottom of the bright blue lightning bolt seemed to be glowing red. There had to be some sort of damage to her wrist, otherwise it wouldn't still hurt this way. Lennon looked up for a moment, hearing gasps, and there it had been. Two seconds and Zeus had the guy in a choke hold. This is not what she asked for, she didn't want Zeus to kill the man. Just to scare him off, to prove that she hadn't been lying. Although she had been, Zeus had no idea she was in the city. Now she was glad she found him, but that choke hold was making things way worse. Lennon ran up next to Zeus, unsure of what to do. She didn't want his rage lashed out on her. But she needed to act fast, she didn't want Zeus to be arrested. The man, she didn't really care about him. He had threatened to take her places, and do things to her. It wasn't made out to be pleasant things either, he obviously needed some kind of scare, though this was too much. "Zee, Zeus. Don't do this. I know what he did. You've scared him enough. I just found you, don't make me lose you now." Her voice ringing out, louder than she had originally thought. The crowd around her looked at her, Lennon looked up at Zeus, her eyes pleading. She had come this far, she wasn't going to lose Zeus to the prison system so soon. Then her memory flooded back, he had always threatened that he'd kill anyone that put a hand on her. There he was, a man propped against a building and he was starting to change from his normal shade. "Zeus, please. Don't do this. He got what he deserved, don't kill him." Lennon held back tears, they weren't for her assailant, but at the thought of losing him. Or had he changed while she was gone? 'No, he'd do something like this before I left. Hell, maybe he would have already killed him by now.' Lennon couldn't do anything but think. Her arms reached out around his torso, sobbing into his shirt. She just kept saying Zeus, and Zee through the tears. Hoping that something, anything she had said would sink in and get him to stop. 'Cause something strange has come over me, and now I can’t get over you

zeus had always sworn to himself that he'd kill to protect lenny if that's what it came to. but then he'd also sworn that he'd never be like his father. and pushing a guy up against a building while strangling him, even for the sake of defending lenny, was exactly something his father would have done. one might have thought that that alone might have pushed him to let go of the man. but it wasn't till he heard her voice that the red in his vision cleared, that he finally began to realize what he was doing. she sounded so panicked, so scared, but not for herself, for him. slowly, he forced himself to let go of the man, who crumpled to the ground the second he did. he began to back up slowly, away from the man, away from what he'd done. he wanted to feel bad or guilty or something, but all he felt was scared. but as he began to back up, he forgot she was there, backing up directly into her. he turn around just fast enough to grab her wrists and stop her from falling to the ground - because let's face it, lenny was a bit of a klutz. and at that exact moment, breathing in her scent, staring deep into those warm brown eyes that he missed so much, it finally sank in. lenny was here. lenny was here in new york and he was touching her. he couldn't help the goofy grin that spread across his face. lenny he whispered her name, an awe in his voice as he watched her. he moved one of his hands to touch her cheek, stroking her face with his thumb. all he could think about was her as he pulled her close, not the guy who was slowly regaining consciousness or the people that was looking at him with a huge what the fuck look on their faces. no of it really seemed to matter, not really anyways. as always the rest of the world paled in comparison to the woman he loved. ▲

I hear your voice in my sleep at night, hard to resist temptation Breathing in a deep sigh of relief Lennon watched as Zeus moved away from the man. Not realizing that she had been pretty much under his feet. After taking the start of a fall, she felt his hands around her wrists pulling her towards him. She was the type to trip over her own feet, but found ways to somehow fall. After having closed her eyes at the start of her fall, she opened them back up. Zeus was right in front of her, his hand on her face. Leaning it into his hand, it nearly covered that half of her face. The warmth though, it brought a smile to her face. After the horror that she just might have faced, he realized it was her after all. She took a step closer to him, praying in her thoughts that he would want her that close to him. "Oh Zeus, I'm sorry I ran into you like that. I didn't want it to be like this when I saw you." Her voice seeming disappointed. All she had thought of when she dreamt of seeing her beloved Zeus again was romantic. Stopping him in the street, apologizing for her wrong doings. Hell, maybe she would have just threw herself into him, trying to escape from another man. Lennon was glad though, had she not run into Zeus, who would have helped her in that sort of situation. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Her eyes almost to the point of tears. Everything just wanted to pour out. But she hoped that it was obvious to him why she was in New York. Now he had known that she had never been to America, so he had to know something was up since she was here. All Lennon wanted to prove to him was that she loved him, and it hadn't stopped even when she had walked away from him. She would have to atone for that mistake. That was if Zeus wanted her back in his life. She couldn't imagine any more time in her life spent away from him though. She looked down at her wrist, the lightning bolt still red but slightly fading. Lennon tried to look away from it quickly, not to draw attention to it. Not exactly having the heart just yet to say she got it just for him, to remind her of what she had done. 'Cause something strange has come over me, and now I can’t get over you
