| ❝ Looking back on the day, it hadn't been too terribly bad. In the morning Lucy was able to bring coffee to each of her co-workers hopefully increasing their respect for her. After that the classes went by easy breezy. Although she had only been teaching at the school for a little while, most of the students seemed to warm up to her easily. Then again, maybe they were only being nice so that they wouldn't lose their privileges to Marathon Friday. Marathon Friday was a fun little geeky thing Lucy enjoyed doing. She would show clips of shows like Doctor Who or Star Trek to her students and in a certain amount of time they would have to creatively make some form of art relating to the clip. The students could win extra credit on the next assignment or the choice of what their next art project would be.
By the end of Friday Lucy would end up with a whole pile of things that she had no idea to do with. This was her current predicament. It seemed each step she took down the street, she clumsily dropped parts of the pile. Despite all this she continued to pick them up because today she was determined to get to Blake's comic book store. Although it wasn't his and he was only a worker, she had that bad habit of claiming the store as his. The past few days she had been too busy with parent and teacher meetings to go to the comic book store. By the end of the week, she felt so bad that she ended up leaving many 'sorry' and 'I'll make it up to you' type messages on his phone.
When she was finally at the store Lucy stopped herself and collected herself. She had no intention of dropping all her stuff over the floor. Opening up the door, Lucy barely even scanned the place, but she didn't go straight to where she knew Blake was either. Instead she made a beeline to one of the many shelves in the store. She ushered the pile of art into one hand and used the other to flip through a couple of the comics. At the moment she had lost her previous goal.
"Oh, I am sure he will spot me eventually," she mumbled to herself.
She swiveled a little to turn to the next shelf and the first few papers on top of the pile floated down to the ground. She turned to pick them back up, and finally came back to her previous goal. Lucy stood up and scanned the comic book store for Blake, but now she could not find him. She pulled out her phone wondering if she had gotten his hour's correct. |

* --- time waits for no-one no-one has time to waste He had spent the morning in class, programming and such - those things that were involved in a computer sciences degree. He enjoyed it, why else would he had committed multiple years of his life to studying it and bettering his knowledge and skills in the computer area. But even so, doing something you enjoyed for school just made it that little bit less enjoyable. He was pleased when he was able to go home and relax for a while - because he had to go to work mid afternoon. But that was something he enjoyed a lot too, how could a very open geek not enjoy the hell out of working in a comic book store - he was able to be super open about his geekiness as well as have intense conversations with fellow geeks about all things geek and it was actually one of his favourite things. Who else could say that they loved working? He didn't know that many people who loved their jobs, like at all. He was one of a kind it seemed - though really there were plenty of people who loved their jobs, like maybe the other people he worked with for example.
Roughly an hour before he was due to start work he left his place of residence, walked to the bus stop and caught a bus all the way to his place of work. It was a long trek and sometimes he had to catch more than one bus (depending on the time of day - after a certain time he had to catch more than one to get home again). Busses were not one of his favourite things and most of the time he sat there, headphones in either listening to music he found good or silently watching an episode of something - though occasionally he wasn't so silent and was prone to snickering if something funny happened and he didn't have a good hold on his laugh reflex (was that even a thing?). Today he had opted to just listening to some tunes by that band he liked, it was safer that way as the day before he had in fact had a fit of laughter in the middle of his journey - he had been fairly embarrassed by it.
He arrived at the comic book store where he worked a good fifteen minutes before he was scheduled to start. As he walked through the store (which was of a medium size housing many different things that were considered 'geeky') he tidied some piles and straightened up a few issues of the latest comic books. For the next ten minutes he had an in-depth conversation with a fellow worker about an episode of Battlestar Galactica that he had watched the night before instead of doing an assignment that was due in the next week. Part way through the afternoon he found himself in the storeroom fetching some issues of a particular comic book that was proving to be popular - it was probably the large breasted woman that was on the cover. When he came back out he spied a familiar redhead browsing the shelves. A small smile appeared on his lips, he was quite fond of Lucy and he rathered enjoyed her visits to the comic book store. After putting the comic book issues in their place on the 'new issues' shelf he made his way to where she was. "Luucccyyyyyy!" Blake all but ran at her with the intention of giving her some kind of tackle hug but saw the pile of papers she had and decided that it was a bad idea. "Did you use the TARDIS again? Because it's been a good few days since I saw you last." He was sure that she'd get his reference since doctor who was one of the main things the two of them had in common. tagged - @hex1 / words - 641 / notes - awful post is awful /dies.
