he is a jerk
see that word up there. yeah that one there starting with the letter j. that's what lincoln harding is. he is one of those people that rarely look out for anyone but himself and even when he finds someone to look out for that isn't him he still treats them like dirt. he uses people to get what he wants and the worst part - he knows what he's doing and wouldn't have it any other way. manipulating people is a hobby of his - as long as he gets something in the end he rarely cares about the damage he does in the process. yes you read correctly, that does say rarely. so yes that does mean that occasionally he cares, but let me tell you this - there is only the smallest chance of that happening this year, or the next. to add to this he is often found in bars - no not drinking because he doesn't do that, but taking advantage of what liquor can do to a lady. and his jerkiness doesn't stop there. he will walk all over you if he feels he is above you and he will most definitely push you aside if he doesn't think you're worth his time. jerkface is a jerkface.
he is loyal
you know all that stuff you just read, all that stuff on how much of a jerk lincoln is? yeah well if you are one of the few people that he calls a friend then he'll do basically anything for you. he'll give you a lift somewhere, he'll confront that loser for you, he'll give you advice (whether or not it's good though...), he'll let you stay in his apartment, he'll lend you money, he'll back you up in a fight, and he'll help you bury a body, wait what? jerkface can be a damn good friend.
he takes his job seriously
seriousness when it comes to work so something that lincoln harding takes very, well seriously. he worked hard to get where he is today - basically in charge of the company's finances. he feels that he and his job are very important to the smooth running of the company and any mistakes he makes on the job could potentially be the downfall of the company - but more importantly his financial security, he does look out for number one after all. jerkface is professional.
he has known hard times
from when he was a toddler until sometime in his sixteenth year lincoln was living with a neglectful and abusive man - otherwise known as his father. okay so he didn't get abusive until lincoln was almost thirteen but he was most definitely neglectful as all hell. there were many times when lincoln's mother came home to find that her son had fallen asleep in the hall or had gotten into something that had the potential to hurt him. there was one time when lincoln was four when she came home at two in the morning and found her son bleeding - he had found some knives in the kitchen drawer and had thought that it was a good idea to play with them, the cut wasn't too bad and she was able to patch him up right there at hime. she quit her job soon after so that she could take care of her son since it was clear that her husband wasn't going to do it. he was sixteen when his father vanished - he left without and explanation or a mention of where he had gone or why, he was just gone. no-one seemed to mind though - except when money got tight simply because there wasn't any income happening because the one who had been bringing it all in for the last so many years was now gone. his mother went back into nursing and he got a job in a corner store near the house. the debts were all paid off by the time he finished college - when he was twenty two, ten years ago. jerkface is a survivor.
he isn't stupid
but he is an idiot. all through his life he has worked hard and in school he got good grades despite the things happening at home. his good grades got him into a good college where he completed a business degree. he then worked his way up from the bottom of the company he works for and is now the financial director. he is an intelligent man and sometimes he likes to make this known - especially to potential mates (you know those drunk girls that he finds in bars) which of course will piss one or two or even ten people off. so yes, idiot. getting into fights and arguments is a special skill of his, though really he isn't all that good of a fighter when it comes to the physical stuff - in those cases running away is a special skill of his, that or getting beaten up which has happened on various occasions. jerkface is smart yet idiotic.
