first a bit of history
ashley was born and raised right here in new york city, in manhattan to be more specific. her father was a wealthy man who had gained his riches from a business that he started up when he was a mere twenty years of age - he sold said business when ashley was fifteen and gained even more riches from the sale. her mother was a teacher, and continues to be today. she is the second youngest for four - she has an older brother named lucas (23), an older sister named elizabeth (20) and a younger brother named sebastian (17). her and her sister had always been close, since the moment ashley was born they were near inseparable - which was a blessing in her mother's eyes as she was always worried that her children wouldn't get along because she didn't get along with her siblings. when she was young her sister and her would often raid their mother's drawers and play with her makeup and clothes - of course this led to their mother getting quite pissed at them and moving her makeup to a place where they couldn't get to it. but somehow they kept getting to it, but they stopped when elizabeth was nearing her tenth birthday. that was around the time that ashley started setting fires around the house. her father was rarely around as his time was usually spent in the office running his business (at this point it was starting to expand and he was starting to look for someone to do the running of the business for him - or at least to help him so that he didn't have as much pressure on him. her mother was always busy with school things, marking tests, planning lessons, organising field trip, all that fun stuff so she was often too busy to spend quality time with her children. there was often a babysitter in the house, even when one parent was there because of the work load they had - though that stopped once ashley started setting fires. her mother took her to the doctor, who then referred them to a psychologist who did some tests and interviewed the whole family and told them that she was classed as a sociocultural fire setter. from that moment both parents made an effort to be around a lot more. when she was sixteen, almost a whole year after her father sold his business, ashley entered a young model competition and won - much to the dismay of both her mother and her sister (who would now grow to be jealous of her sister since becoming a model was her dream). she took a year off school to pursue her new modelling career. she graced the pages of many issues of teen magazines and soon went on to other, better magazines and even did a shoot for vogue when she was seventeen - though that was a one time thing because her mother was too difficult to work with. after that year she went back to school - because her mother insisted that it was more important than modelling - a year behind everyone that she was with before and in turn she was picked on a bit because of it. she was even picked on because she was somewhat well known among those who kept up with the modelling world - people are just so mean sometimes. over the last two years since she has been back in school (she's in her senior year now) she has become closed off from her peers a lot more than she had been before and has even gained a bitchy streak - but we all know it's a reaction to being picked on after she returned to school.
add a few traits
cantankerous: bad-tempered, argumentative and uncooperative. they are definitely three things that she is now. before she returned to school at her mother's request these things were only a mild part of her but the treatment she got when she returned has influenced that negative side of her personality a lot more than one would have liked. she will snap at you if she finds you annoying, she will also tell you that you're annoying and more than likely walk away from you while you're in mid sentence. she isn't a fan of authority these days and she can and has been classed as a bit of a rebel - last year she walked out of class because the teacher wanted her to answer a question, she isn't all that popular with the teachers. she can be rather unpleasant more often than not - though she can be pleasant and it's a nice thing, but she leaves that to first impressions and those times where she needs to be pleasant company.
loyal: she won't betray someone who has been there for her, she won't let anything bad happen to them on her watch and she will always be there for them. this may be the one part of her that has stayed with her through all the years. over the last two years she hasn't let very many people in - mainly because whens he did come back to school people befriended her because she was somewhat well known and the tried to use her small fame to get them things, which didn't go so well for anyone. but those that were there before she won that damn competition and stuck with her and are still there for her, they are her favourite people and she will do anything for them - within reason of course.
emotionless: emotions are not something that she likes to show any more. her boring, plain expression is something that she is almost always seen with these days. she has a straight face most of the time unless she is around certain people or something takes her by surprise and some emotion slips through. when she is angry it shows though, it may possibly be the only emotion (other than boredom, though is that even an emotion) that she lets show - unless she wants to keep it hidden for one reason or another.
and a few fun facts
when she was young - between the ages of nine and twelve - she was classed as a sociocultural fire setter, meaning that she would start fires in an effort to win the approval of her parents. she still likes fire and has been diagnosed with having mild pyromania but treatment has been going well and she isn't very likely to start any fires unless something triggers her emotions in a way that leads to her to start one. she is still a virgin - she may know that she is into both boys and girls but she has never gone further than a good make out session. she has had a few boyfriends and even a girlfriend over the last five years but she feels that she does better on her own and doesn't need a romantic side to her life.
