It must have started out like any of day for the Dawes couple. Gordon and his young wife were out and about that day. Sure, it had been a little gloomy looking, but they could suck it up for a little bit at least. Although, Mrs. Dawes had been nine months pregnant at the time. They had figured walking around would help with her labor to start. Glad that her husband had come with her, her water had broken. They immediately rushed to the hospital. Hours, almost a full day later, Selene held her firstborn in her arms. A small, bright eyed baby girl. The two Dawes had been set on baby names for a good bit of time. Their love of The Beatles had shown in their choice. Lennon Vera Dawes, no one else could say they named their baby girl Lennon. The nurse cocked her head at their choice, but wrote it down on the birth certificate anyways.
When Lennon had grown to be seven, her parents had brought her last sibling into the world. On that day she told her parents that she would take care of them if anything ever happened. That she would protective them and love them, even if they didn't like the same things. Lenny's parents had nodded, and went back to cooing the new baby girl. Her brothers and her had been brought by her grandparents to see their new sister. Now the genders were even. The fights would be fair in the house. Two votes for each team. Although from that day, things weren't really a competition, she helped her parents raise her siblings. From an early age she was a caregiver, kind and patient. Anything her siblings wanted that she had, she would gladly hand it over to make them smile. Her parents watched this and were proud of the daughter they had raised. Well of how she had grown so far. There were teenage years coming, but they had tried to keep their minds off of it.

Lenny could honestly not speak a word when her parents had told her they were moving the whole family to Athens. Lenny was middle school aged, well about to go into middle school. She was devastated, but there was absolutely nothing she could do. Instead of trying to fight her parents on it she went ahead and tried to get her siblings ready to leave. Although, Liverpool was home, she was terrified to leave it. The accent of her country would be lost on the Greeks. They could even make fun of her for her own. She hated the idea, but her parents were the bosses. Not her, she couldn't stay, Lenny had to be strong for her siblings sake. The long drive was well worth it though. Her father was a writer, and told Lenny that he needed a change of scenery to help him write some new things. Why Athens though? Why not farther south in England, or Ireland, hell maybe even Wales. Of all the places why Greece?
Her thoughts had run rabid in her mind, she fell asleep in the process of fighting away bad thoughts of Greece. When she opened her eyes next she couldn't believe the sights she had laid her eyes on. The age of the city had shown, but people were up to date, she hadn't thought they would be. Lenny honestly had no idea what to expect. She didn't know whether to be terrified of living in some old stone home somewhere. Like in the books she had seen at school. It brought on the memories she would have to keep of her friends. Surely, she could make new ones. Looking out the car window, she saw some kids playing outside with their soccer ball. Obviously football was big at home. It started to make her slightly at ease. Athens though, was nothing like Liverpool, she had grown to love the sight of gloomy days. It seemed that summer was the worst in Athens though. The first year, she had always been bright red after coming home from running around with her friends.
The summer between her sixth and seven grade year had involved being shipped down from Liverpool, U.K to a completely different Athens, Greece. Her siblings and even Lenny herself, had managed to adjust well. Her brothers finding friends quickly, and her sister even played with the girl next door. When it came to Lenny though, Summer hadn't been so good with friendship. It really wasn't until she started school that she found who was to be her best friends. Zeus and Damon had come into the picture on that very first day of school. Actually Zeus had been the first of the two boys to talk to her, later though she heard that Damon had just been sitting on the half way staring at her. After Zeus almost crashed into her, he spoke to her. His voice warm and kind, actually welcoming her to Greece. It was adorable, or so Lennon thought. His smile made her feel a bit better about the day. He made her blush, and after that she befriended him, and his sidekick. Lenny didn't know whether they would like her or not, her accent didn't really help the matter. Remembering that it seemed like they tilted their heads when they heard her speak for the first time, but they made her repeat herself, over and over.
It was quick to friendship for the little trio. Well the boys and Lenny anyways. Some of the girls shook their heads at Lenny but all she could do was laugh. It didn't take long though, for that girly sense in her to take over her mind. She loved the two almost like her own brothers, but her heart had something else in store for her. She never really had crushes on boys back home. She focused on school and helping her parents with the rambunctious brood of children they had. Lenny didn't want to say anything to Zeus for the longest time. She tried and tried to move it out of her head. To try and keep everything friendly, not wanting to have his feelings only be ones of friendship towards her. It didn't take long for that to change though. Maybe it was a few months, or the next year, she couldn't quite recall, but they finally told each other. Lenny felt so good that day, nothing could bring her down from that high.
These were the years that she could remember clearly. Things with her home were obviously more settled, and Greece had grown on Lenny. Maybe, Greece had finally felt like home. Her life all together with school, Zeus and friends. One day when she was over at Zeus', she could remember it clearly, they could not have been a day over fifteen. Shouting, the sounds of things being thrown, everything else had seemed silent. Looking immediately to him, Athena had been in the room. Lenny offered to take her to get something, maybe ice cream it was. Just for her to be out of the house. Athena was only seven that day. Lenny crept out the back door, carrying Athena on her back. Zeus stayed, Lenny never asked him what happened, she wasn't really sure if she'd want to know.
Eighteen, Lenny was getting ready to graduate school. She had spent more time with Zeus, Damon and Athena than anyone else. Athena needed to be out of the house, and so did Zeus. It was hard for her to see everything happening the way it did. He no longer wanted her to go to his house. He never gave an explanation why, though it had to do something with his dad, she was sure. His mother had run away, but left the two there. She could see how hard Zeus was trying to keep everything together for Atty, Lenny dedicated a lot of her time to make sure that Atty was out of the house. Whenever Zeus was doing his music thing, she would make sure Atty was with him or at her home with her. Knowing it wasn't normal for things to be this way for an eighteen year old, she held her head up knowing she was doing the best she could with the circumstances that fate had dealt her.
Later that year, Zeus had obtained full custody of Atty. With him constantly touring though, for the first week of adjusting, Lenny made sure that Atty was at her home while his touring had began. They had enrolled her in a cyber school, hoping that she would take to it well. From there, Lenny and Atty were always close to Zeus, sticking closely to his tour. It seemed as though it was going well with Atty and her schooling, to which she was proud. At eighteen she felt like a mother, beaming over someone else's child. Oddly though, she felt much older. Like Athena was her child, she talked her through things Zeus could barely get out of his mouth, girly things anyways. It was odd, they were eighteen years old and caring for a young girl. But she couldn't feel any happier.
At nineteen, everything was going well. Atty was excelling with her school work. Lenny and her were still traveling with her boyfriend. Zeus would often have the two of them standing off to the side, cheering him on. Lenny would always be beaming up at him. Atty always announced how proud of him she was. He was actually doing really well, not that it surprised her. They couldn't get enough of Zeus. They had been to every corner of Europe one could dream of seeing. Most girls couldn't say that they had seen those things at her age. This was a life, but she couldn't be on a bus all the time, could she? When there were breaks from the tour she was glad to be home. Greece welcomed Zeus back lovingly. She hadn't been alone with Zeus since who knew when. Although, that night they had gotten home they were. It was odd, just the two of them, she had become so attached to Atty being with them. Her thoughts were almost torn out of her head, when he pulled out a ring.
Twenty three, from what she remembered, it involved a lot of touring. More places in Europe, bigger venues. Zeus seemed to be getting lost in it all. She had tried to plan a wedding, but it always seemed like he wanted to back away from it. Lenny would ask, and he shook it off, so she just went along with it. They were still young she guessed. Atty was always so happy sounding when she'd ask about it. Lenny could do nothing but smile and say not yet Atty, he's not ready. He honestly hadn't put any thought into it now. They had talked wedding and everything when they were nineteen, twenty and maybe twenty one. But now, it had all changed, she noticed slight things with Zeus had changed, but she chose to ignore it. For growing up's sake. Lenny wasn't going to fight over a wedding, her little makeshift family had dealt with too much of it. Maybe four years being engaged wasn't terrible. Shouldn't she be more proud that her fiance was doing so well for himself?
Twenty four to Twenty five, the year of ruin, of everything she'd worked so hard for coming apart. Zeus had kept her waiting for six years. With not one detail in the work. Lenny had kept her feelings on the matter bottled up. This time she couldn't hide it. She had pulled him aside, making her case that she felt like she had waited for him long enough. Not remembering whether he laughed, or if he tried to change the subject, her instincts made her do something she didn't think she could ever do. She looked down at her hand, and pulled the ring off and set it in front of him. Calmly, she walked away. Everything she had come to know, her little makeshift family gone in the blink of an eye. Immediately calling her parents to come and get her.
Moments in time.
