personality: elsa could well be called the queen of ice; she is a recluse, having a fairly sheltered life has been impeding her socialization skills for quite some time now. she's not your average girl, though. aside from her guarded public self, elsa is one of the most bright people you'll ever meet. she has intelligence on her side, as well as an outlook on life that's riddled with day dreaming and beautiful perception of time. she's careless, acts on an impulse in stressful situations, and is someone who likes to be the greater good. over her friends and family, elsa is maternal and protective, willing to throw herself into the fire before someone else. for others, she likes to act as a crutch, as well as forget about herself. because of this, elsa often neglects her own emotional/mental needs and bottles things up. this puts a strain on her sanity more often than not. it's easy to upset her, though she does try to keep a straight face against what someone says. if you push her buttons the right way, and her quiet façade falls, you're met with a kraken, though. to get her angry enough to yell takes talent; not impossible, and she is certainly not void of bad things. elsa has her own little dark side, including resentment toward her parents for how their parenting skills have impacted her as an adult. elsa has a growing anxiety around large crowds and people she is unfamiliar with. because of this, she often gets the shakes. she has many anxiety induced quirks; lip biting, playing with her hair, nail biting, flexing hand muscles, or chewing necklaces.
because of the secret in which her family holds (of her fathers suicide), she is sensitive to talk of death. elsa loved her father and still has trouble coping with his death, even now, years later. apart of her is naive, she likes good opposed to bad, and tries to see the good in all of her fellow human beings. elsa's the kind of girl who has faith in others, even those who have harmed her in some way. this is a dangerous world for such a girl to live in. her maturity level is well above her actual age, but the fact of being sheltered has inevitably left elsa ignorant to natural adult behaviors and habits. some adults her age like to drink, she likes to light up a joint and cuddle some cats. one day, elsa will seem as the perfect prodigy -- diligent, charming, an amazing listener -- other days, her mentality completely drops and she is almost child-like.
the common ground of elsa is that she is a chameleon. not too keen on the social world of college, or anyone for that matter, but anyone who takes the time to enjoy her would soon understand. as strong as elsa likes to appear, and as child like she is at heart, nobody would even think of the scars in which she bares. this girl has been a self harm addict since fifteen, just after her father initially died, and kept it well a secret. of course, these days self harm is very few and far between, but elsa is easily thrown into a funk, sometimes even prone to manic depression, haunting her. this depression leads into terrible migraines, and also plays apart of the girls occasional bitch fits. only friends would see the side of her in which you could consider "bitchy", its just so very unlike her.
history: elsa may was the third born to two socialites of a small town in scandinavia. her parents were the kind of people whom, no matter the situation, made time for their children and made sure that the nanny was never the one putting them to bed. nobody ever associated the parents affections for guilt. back in paris, where the parents both met, they had a first-born boy, ezra; their pride and joy and certainly someone to dote over. a year before they decided to move back home, their boy drown in icy water and left an ever lasting strain on the family for quite some time. elsa was considered the second born to the eldest danica, who was a mere five years older. there was tension inside their mansion, for many years, but the parents shielded the children from it, they didn't want anyone finding out, not only their family but the fellow townspeople who saw the davis' as wonderful people, a picture perfect family.
as a child, most of her time was spent in the barn which her father built specifically for the children. elsa was fascinated with the horses whom roamed their lands, quick to learn to ride and quick to love the big monstrous creatures. one horse in particular, a fjord cross named clever, she was drawn to. he was said to be a vicious horse -- elsa was always warned to keep far from his stable, but at five years old she was growingly defiant. the girl always slipped inside the stall and played with the sweet clever, unfazed by whatever "viciousness" they claimed he was. it was because of this bravery which she was given the horse and taught to ride, which quickly became her favorite pass time. it was around that fifth year of hers that a third (fourth) child was born, anna, whom was quickly the pride of the family. of course, at first, elsa could not be bothered by the new comer, but she was soon attached her first time holding her.
one year passed.
everyone beside the davis adults were blind to the turmoil the family was facing. father was fired from his job that year, alcoholism getting in the way of his performance. the family lived off of savings accounts and the inheritance given to mama when her parents passed away. things were growing in stress levels -- but the children lived blissfully ignorant.
elsa was devastated a mere six months later as they drove away from the large mansion upon a hill. they made the journey via plane to the americas, father having taken up a job in vegas which paid as well, if not better, than his original job in the technology industry. elsa and danica had both put up a fight about leaving, claiming they'd never survive inside of the city, and so they decided on a small ranch house on the border, with a large yard and a two stall shed out back, large enough for two horses. this was not good enough for elsa, because her first week there was nothing but the beginning of her depression.
the kids were homeschooled. well liked amongst the few other children who had the pleasure of meeting them... elsa even had a few friends she got with often for play dates, but mother and father kept their chains short. they were careful of whom they engaged with, themselves; just as critical of their children's friends. many of the kids around elsa's age were far too mature for her young mind, and tossed away, leaving her alone as always.
at ten years old, elsa suffered a massive block of depression. she had once bee very close with her younger sister, anna, and no longer even came out of her room aside for daily schooling. she didn't exactly get better, only got better at hiding the sadness. it went on like that the next five years. of course, some days were far better than others, and elsa always tried to find the time for her sister, but time inevitably became lost to her. depression would not shake from her -- and gradually, the marriage of her parents became painfully (obviously) tense. her fathers drinking, her mothers boredom. it was like they no longer cared to hide the issues that made them imperfect, even the colleagues and family. it became obvious to elsa that her mother saw the move from scandinavia as a horrible mistake, and sometimes so did she. it wasn't until the fateful day of her fathers death that things changed, even in the slightest. elsa was ridding in the passenger seat, blissfully unaware of his drunken state, and stayed at his side when he took his last few breaths.
it stayed with her for a long time. it was just another thing which she blamed herself, even though it was unreasonable. the family packed up and headed toward new england, elsa, anna and the two ponies in tow. danica stayed behind with her own life making way. as they got to boston, the two girls were thrown into public school and (unlike anna), elsa was left to drown my her lonesome. she didn't do too good. many people found her diamond eyed curiosity weird, almost unbecoming. she did find a few friends among the masses of people, and this is where her hard work paid off. she was good in school, and as the years passed, elsa became the
class president and put her brain to work. anna remained a social butterfly, and their mother... she stopped giving a fuck.
when the thought of college came about, elsa decided that she was ready to leave. her first college of choice was las vegas -- but after spending her freshman year, she ended up applying to new york university, and shipping out a few months later.
