He had only been in New York for few days - in fact he had only been in America for a few days. He was yet to explore the city or even think about visiting other places - okay so that one was a lie as he had actually talked to others about the possibility of him visiting other places in America. But despite all of this he had made plans with another, one Mathias that he actually had not met face to face before - most people his age would think that he was mad for making plans with such a person, but hey if anything bad went down he could look after himself, he was a big boy now after all. He was actually a little bit excited, Carter liked people for the most part and well, he liked friends too and there was the possibility of this guy being the first friend he was to make in America. Now you can't tell me that's not something to be excited about. Carter was definitely a people person and it excited him. The only downside to making friends here was that he wasn't planning on staying, he was here on leave to visit his sister and niece - oh and her partner too, but mainly the sister and niece. But that wasn't going to stop him from making these friends that he so very much wanted. After all, it was really easy to stay in contact with people across the world with the use of that thing called the world wide web. The internet was a wonderful invention. Sometimes his job made it hard to keep up with the happening of his friends - but that wasn't something that was going to stop him from making them in the first place, that was most definitely a problem for future Carter, who almost always wants to punch past Carter in the face - but only almost always. His plans with this potential friend were going down at one of New York's bars and since he had absolutely no idea where and what the best bars were he had left the picking of the bar up to Mathias. When he arrived he silently admitted to no-one but himself that it was a good choice of bar, it had everything a good bar needed - a bar and beer. He was a simple man at the best of times. He had arrived earlier than the agreed upon time so he sat himself down on a stool at the bar and ordered a beer. Once he had his beer he took a rather large sip and looked around the bar, taking in everything his eyes saw. He took a mental note of the couple sitting off to the side, somewhat out of the way, cuddling and giggling at one another and also of the two men to his right who were in a rather deep discussion about who was the best batman - which was something that he wasn't all that knowledgeable about. With a small shake of his head he went back to his beer and took another sip, waiting for his new friend to show up - did he even know what he looked like? tagged - @deadly // words - 535 notes - hope this is alright.

You've got a friend in me Wasn't this a surprise? Two cute dates with two beautiful people within a couple of days. Mathias hadn't had a real date in probably a year or so. These weren't quite real dates either. Still, he was glad to be meeting new people and making friends, even though Carter didn't live in America. That was alright though, they could still talk on the Internet, right? Of course they could, and would. His new friend had been great so far, so hopefully he'd be even better in person. Two dates within just a couple days of each other. Wow. Well, it wasn't Mathias' idea but Carter wanted a cute date with him too, after seeing him and a model. Who was he kidding though, he wanted it too. That sounded like fun anyway to him, and he was glad to be able to go on this 'date' which was actually at a bar where they'd probably be drinking. A lot. Well, Mathias would be. As much as he lived his job and work, it could be stressful. Reliving people's terrible experiences with them took an emotional toll, it could be exhausting. And he liked to let loose every once in awhile. That was probably a bad idea considering he hadn't ever met Carter in person. Hell, he didn't even know what this guy looked like. Still, he was pretty sure Carter was basically his future best friend and he was putting a lot of faith into this guy to be just as amazing as the one he had talked to previously. He probably should've told his date that he'd be a bit late, he almost always was. Mathias just wasn't punctual, and he was also pretty disorganized. Being a little late never hurt anybody, well unless it was his job. He couldn't keep people waiting and his rates were by the half-hour so time was of the essence. In his heart he knew it wasn't about the money though, it was about being there for the people who put their trust in him. He worked with people who had been involved in various traumatic situations, and the last thing he needed was to let them down when they confided in him after mental and emotional scarring. It just made him think of his own PTSD. His PTSD never fully went away, but he had just became better at coping with it. Nightmares and such were just a part of life and he couldn't let that control him. Mathias helped other people cope with trauma and stress, while he worked to suppress his own. He would never complain though, he loved his job. Even on his worst days and at his lowest points, you'd never hear Mathias complain once. He was a fiercely loyal and reliable friend, which was how he wanted his clients to see him. As he walked down the street he glanced down at his watch, noticing he should've been at the bar around 5 minutes ago. He hated to keep a new friend waiting, but he was absolutely horrid at time management. He gave a time for his friend to show up at, but times were always approximate when it came to Mathias. Straightening his tie, he looked up at a sign ahead, the bar where he had agreed to meet Carter. The two didn't exactly know what each other looked like, but Mathias had given him an idea. And by an idea that meant he had told him to look for 'the most strikingly handsome man you see'. Well, Mathias had a feeling he'd know the guy he was looking for once he spotted him. Upon entering the bar Mathias' eyes darted around, searching for his date. Spotting a singular man sitting at the bar and sipping a beer he knew he had found the one. This was it, he finally got to meet his new friend. He attempted to catch the eye of the other man, raising a hand casually before making his way over to the bar and taking a seat next to him. "I don't suppose you'd be a Mr. Carter, eh?" 688 words. @carter. Drunk karaoke with Mater?

He had referred to tonight as a 'cute date' far too many times for a thirty year old man. Sure, if he were still sixteen he could get away with saying that he was going on a cute date with another man - well actually he'd probably be ridiculed more so if he were sixteen and telling people he were going on a cute date with another guy, he was probably safer doing it now at thirty. He had no idea how old Mathias was, he hadn't asked and it hadn't come up in conversation, it wasn't exactly one of those things that came up in conversation in a chat room with strangers - oh wait, yes it was. But it hadn't come up and as Carter was sitting there, sipping on the beer he had ordered while he waited the thought came to his mind. What if Mathias was some sixty year old creep? Well Carter would be able to deal with that quickly and easily. But the man's picture had said otherwise - though we're online profile pictures and such sometimes a lie. God damn, he could look vastly different to that picture he had seen. So now Carter had no idea what to look for. He'd just wait for someone to approach him and ask if he was indeed that man they were looking for. He had been waiting a while and so was starting to worry just a little that he was either at the wrong bar or that there was no Mathias and he was being set up in some form. But as he took yet another sip from his beer and let his eyes wander a little. As they did they caught some movement from a somewhat familiar looking face, that must be his new best friend, yes? He assumed as much and gave the man a small eyebrow raise of recognition. As the man approached, Carter set his beer down and let his eyes follow him on his journey to the bar. "Mister Carter is me." He said once the other man had taken a seat and spoken. "And I assume you are mister Mathias, though that guy over there is a lot more strikingly handsome." He indicated toward a guy not too far away from them who was at that moment doing his best to hit on a woman who wanted none of him and his crap. Carter let out a small chuckle before picking his beer back up and taking a sip. He had already given him the visual once over, taking in everything he could see of his appearance - it was just something he did with everyone, even those who were not even almost potential friends. It was something that he had decided was good for his job, he had it in his head that if you look someone over completely then there is less chance of them surprising you with something that they may be hiding behind their back, or under their shirt. "I was almost going to go home with that guy too, you showed up just in time." His accent coated his words. He wasn't really going to go home with the apparent more strikingly handsome guy who had failed miserably with that one woman and who was now moving onto another. Carter mentally shook his head at the man - who he didn't even almost know and really didn't want to - and turned his full complete attention onto his new companion. tagged - @deadly // words - 581 notes - yessss drunk karaoke with mater!

You've got a friend in me Mathias couldn't help but smirk as who he figured to be Carter confirmed his assumption. "Sorry I'm late, you'll have to forgive me, as I'm not a very punctual person." He was truly excited to meet his new friend. They hardly knew each other, but something about their personalities just clicked. Mathias couldn't quite figure out what it was, but he knew they were going to be friends. Meeting in person at a bar was probably a very dumb idea, but also a fun one. You can't have fun without a little risk, or at least that was Mathias' personal philosophy. It was a relief that Carter seemed to be who he was when they first met, and not some crazy axe-murderer or something. Mathias just needed more friends. He was so invested in his job, listening to others talk about their days, experiences, vent. He just needed more people he could do the same with. He hardly had any family, just his mother and father, and honestly he didn't want all that much to do with them. It wasn't like he had anything against them, there weren't any grudges, his family just wasn't super tight. Mathias had just convinced himself it didn't bother him, that he was fine with this fact. Truthfully it did hurt to think his family didn't really care all that much about each other, so he just avoided thinking about it. Plain as that. As Carter went on to say that some other lousy guy hitting on women was more strikingly handsome than himself, he dropped his jaw dramatically, throwing a hand on his chest to fake a look of shock. "That burns. I am truly and deeply hurt by that statement mister Carter." Mathias shook his head, before quickly and silently ordering a beer with a simple nod towards the drink sitting in front of Carter. He wondered how many of them he'd go through before the night was over, probably quite a few. That wasn't exactly a good thing, because he had a history of making poor decisions when drunk, which was probably why he had refrained from doing so for probably around eight years. It just wasn't professional. Why did that even matter though? It wasn't like he was on the job. Of course he did like to be able to be presentable and professional at any given time, and be there for any of his clients if needed. He was truly devoted to his job, he absolutely loved it. Sure it wasn't the most glorious thing, but it was making a difference in the lives of others who were in similar places to where he had been. If he got a call at 3 a.m. and somebody needed support or to vent, he'd be willing to listen. It was just the kind of person Mathias was. He watched as the bartender placed a beer in front of him, not hesitating to take a big swig of it right off the bat, also turning his attention back to his new friend. "Oh, well that's no good, you're supposed to be coming home with me tonight." Mathias tried to put a smug look on his face and take another sip of his beer, but it was blatantly obvious he was trying not to crack up as he suppressed a grin. 541 words. @carter. Hope this is alright, far too late.

He couldn't be made that Mathias was late - he'd been late on his fair share of plans, even though he liked to be punctual. Plus he didn't really care, he'd got a head start on the drinking, even if it was only the tiniest head start. "I suppose I can forgive you." He said with a smile - see he was super cute when he wanted to be, and even when he didn't want to be really. The Brit took another sip from his beer as he thought about how weird it was to meet someone online and then meet them for the first time face to face in a bar - that would be one of those things that would be considered dangerous and he was certain that his father would not approve even in the slightest. But Carter has stopped caring what that man thought years ago - plus he was now married to someone who was younger than his children and Carter did not approve of that in the slightest. He was glad that Mathias was not a creepy old man that was preying on the - uh thirty year old men... Carter wasn't a huge drinker, mainly because he couldn't really drink while he was working and he worked a lot because he liked it and didn't have too much outside of work to do. Yes he did go out drinking with some mates when he had a weekend off and what not but it wasn't all that often and most of the time he didn't want to get drunk. But getting drunk with Mathias sounded like it could be a lot of fun so he was prepared to do just that, provided that the other man wanted to as well. " I didn't want to lie to you, sometimes the truth hurts." He spoke with a smirk - of course the other guy was a douche in Carter's eyes and it didn't matter how attractive that man was, he would never get Carter's approval as a strikingly handsome man. Mathias on the other hand, maybe if Carter was into that but alas he was not so really Mathias would never get that title either - but for completely different reasons. Despite the fact that he was not into men Carter had a habit of flirting with them - you could call it flirting right - and meaning absolutely nothing by it. There had been times in the past where it had given some men the wrong idea and some awkward things happened, as well as some not so good things from those who weren't too find of a man flirting with them and reacted negatively - Carter had no time for those kinds of people. He watched as Mathias took a swig of the beer that had just been placed in front of him. He smirked slightly and then took an equally bug swig of his own - he was not going to be outdone on drinking tonight. "Well you got here in the nick of time. I'm all yours tonight." As he spoke the last part he put his hands in the air with a sort of 'surrendering' motion. When he lowered them he let out a laugh - it was somewhat louder than what one would want but hey they were in a bar and everyone was loud in there. "But in all seriousness, it's great to actually meet you and see that you're not a sixty year old creep." He took another, smaller, swig of his beer after he spoke. tagged - @deadly // words - 586 notes - /flails.
