never wanna be without ever again "how did you two meet?" for whatever reason, this was a very common question for couples. vince wouldn't have known, normally he didn't exactly count as a couple. but he'd gotten to know this particular question quite well after a while. even when vince and vanessa had been just friends, the local press had her pinned as his girlfriend. and no amount of protesting could seem to convince them otherwise. not that it mattered in the end. that particular story was definitely one of his favorites. not only had vanessa come out of it, but so had the cuddly little friend that he had named cadence. but of course he was getting ahead of himself. it had been dark night, not a particularly warm one, the heat of summer just beginning to tinge the air. he'd been walking on his own when he heard scampering and spotted the emaciated pup. not even second after he'd picked up the dog did he hear the sound of a scuffing shoe and watch as a woman - vanessa - almost fell to the ground. he'd still been new to new york then, but he'd walked her to the street and stayed with her until she'd found a taxi to take her home. neither seemed to have had the faintest idea that they would meet again. he was just some random guy in a dark alley and she was a smart well dressed woman who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. but, as fate may have had it, nessie came back into his life with the help of a friend. and she'd never spent a day out of it, no matter what he was doing or who he was doing or whatever crap he had been through. she'd been there through thick and thin and in time he'd found himself falling for her.
and to his surprise, he wasn't the only one. rejection had led him to new york. and rejection had led him into nessie's life. it had been so easy for him to imagine nessie telling him that no, she didn't feel the same and couldn't they just stay friends. but that wasn't what happened, she wanted him to. and the thought alone was enough to stir a smile on his face, no matter how dark his thoughts were. yes, vince had loved sincidy with fierceness he didn't understand. but what he was coming to realize was that sincidy wasn't the only one he loved that way, vanessa had taken up her own special place in his heart. which was probably why he had missed her so much in the time she'd been gone. in the grand scheme of things, she hadn't been gone so long. but it felt like much longer. it was just like trying to find different things to distract him from the fact that he didn't have his normal distractions. and then he'd run into a fantastic idea. or at least it seemed that way. maybe instead of moping around in his house with cadence, which was its own kind of enjoyable. BUT back to his idea. instead of moping, he had decided that he could plan a welcome home party for vanessa and the rest of the band. it was tedious, making him realize that he hadn't actually planned parties before for a reason. however, there was something about all the minuscule details that made everything okay again. he could get lost in the planning. he could had only to hope that everything worked out the way he planned it.
not that it really seemed to matter in the end. today was the day of the party and mostly the only thing he could focus on was the fact that she was back. nessie was back and there were actually times where he had to stop himself from just staring at her. people were just starting to leave the party and vince was crouched by the doorway, looking down at cadence as she said good bye in the way that dogs could. she wagged her tail, licking the hands she could and sniffing the ones she couldn't. she had grown since he'd picked her up in the alleyway that night. and she was spoiled rotten. who would have guessed that the two girls that had walked into his life that day would still be here. when the last guest had walked through the door and the last hand had been shaken, vince turned to retreat deeper into the house, where he and vanessa had clean up to do. he reached for a plate and shoved it in the trash. then he turned his gaze to vanessa. cadence had walked over to her as well, nudging her hand with her head. you know, it's your party, you don't actually have to clean up. he teased her, a smile on his face that hadn't gone away since she'd arrived at his doorstep a couple days ago. he walked over to the counter next to her. their entire relationship was still fairly new and he was too scared to to press her into anything. he'd let her make all the first moves and then respond afterwards. it was probably the longest he'd been in a "relationship" without sex being involved. how're you doing? he wasn't sure why he was asking, just that it felt right and he was already asking. he looked into her eyes with a soft smile.

Being one part of a couple wasn't something that she was all that used to - she had spent the majority of her life without a significant other and had been content with that. But then along came mister Vincent Crosby and her single life went to hell. Well it didn't all go to hell straight away - nor did anything really go to hell, it was all such a nice smooth ride (maybe? She wasn't too sure about that one..) and it had all turned out fairly well in the end. She had been there for him when he needed someone, even when he was too proud or whatever to admit that he needed someone and she was sure that if she ever needed someone to be there for her when something went down then he would be right there in a heartbeat. Though she wished people would stop asking those silly questions that all new couples seem to get. They were definitely something that she could live without. Maybe soon they would stop? Their meeting hadn't exactly been the lightest of happenings but it had ended well - with her on the bus back to her home with a new name to add to her list of friends and that friend with a new little friend of his own, one that she liked just as much as him. Though in all honesty she didn't warm up to him right away, it took a while and the addition of a mutual friend for anything to really happen and even then it was only a friendship but it was something wonderful and now she had someone that she could see herself spending a very long time with - despite what friends said. It seemed that there were a lot of people in her life that disapproved of Vince and really she didn't blame them, he was a bit of a wild one with a rather wild past especially in the area of lust love. She knew that those who were warning her against him were just looking out for her and she loved them for it, but she was a grown woman and could look after herself in this aspect - she hoped. Parties were something that she had been a part of since she was a teen - well there had been only a small few when she was a teen but her friends since had been somewhat party animals and there had been quite a few parties in her life since then. She had been mostly flattered when there had been a party thrown in her honour - or well just to welcome her back from being away - and she had been more than happy to have a good time and mingle and what not, you know all those things that people did at parties. But she was mostly relieved when everyone had gone and it was over. It was just her and Vince then (and a heap of clean up) and they could have some them time and talk about the things that they wanted to talk about. And they could also clean while doing so - or so that was what Nessie wanted to do. She wasn't against mess but she knew that the quicker the cleanup started then the quicker it would be done - logic. "I know, but if I help it'll be done faster." She protested when told that she didn't need to clean since it was her party. She took a moment to lean down to pet Cadence before taking some rubbish in her hand and putting it in a plastic bag that just so happened to be nearby - it was easier to put a heap of loose trash in a bag to then put in the bin than it was to take all the loose stuff to the bin after all. "Oh you know, still a little flattered that I got a party." She said with a smile while turning to look at him. "How're you doing?" She mirrored his question while keeping the smile on her lips.

accidental happily Ever after The way you smile and how you comfort me With your laughter I must admit you were not a part of my book But now if you open it up and take a look You're the beginning and the end of every chapter [presto] vince knew that most of the world had learned of his past. he was an infamous womanizer. he probably had slept with more people in a single year then most people would in a single life time. vince knew this better then most, obviously. and he did regret that lifestyle. he hated that most of nessie's friends thought he was no good for her. it was on thing to think it himself but quite another thing to know that other people were thinking it too. vince knew he wasn't the best person in the world. more often then not, he found himself wondering what exactly nessie saw in him. he knew why he loved her (love, wasn't that crazy.). he loved her because she was smart. he loved her because she was beautiful. but mostly he loved her because she'd been there for him no matter the circumstances. he didn't know much about relationships, but he knew that this at least was a good thing. he would trust vanessa with his life if the need ever arose. she had somehow made leaving vegas and sincidy so much easier. it was hard to remember all the bad things in the past while he was staring into her eyes. it didn't matter that he'd spent a year of his life so wasted that even his name didn't matter. it didn't matter that he'd discovered his sexuality the hard way. it didn't matter that he'd loved and lost annabelle, that he'd loved and lost a child. as long as vanessa was by his side, he was pretty sure he could handle whatever the world threw at him. so yeah, maybe he wasn't the perfect guy, he was a very flawed guy. but there wasn't anything he wouldn't do for vanessa if she ever needed it. he'd raise heaven and hell for her. and if anyone asked him what love was, his only answer was vanessa.
vince looked around, grabbing as many plates as he could. thankfully, he had thought to do paper plates, so the only dishes they would have to do were the food ones. he shoved them in a nearby trashcan. as always, nessie was studiously cleaning up. his smile, already large and permanently plastered on his face, just seemed to get bigger. he moved over to the sink where the few dishes that needed to be cleaned had been placed. he couldn't help but to make a face at them, despite the small amount. he had to admit, he loved the little brownstone house that he had bought better than his parents house. it just seemed to have more character. though it still had the strange sense of modern and antique. it was perfect for vince. just big enough for him and cadence, but not so big as to make him feel alone. maybe one day there would be another person staying with them. he cast a sideways glance at vanessa, who had been joined by cadence. funny how even his dog loved nessie. he would never quite be able to say why, but she just seemed to fit in his life like that was where she had always belonged. this is true. and the quicker we clean up, the faster we can more onto better things. he picked up a sponge and motioned to the dishes. i'll wash if you dry. it was mostly just simple stuff. he didn't see the point of throwing it in the dishes. the simple act of cleaning dishes was mechanical enough that he could get lost in thoughts. once he cleaned and rinsed the dishes, he placed them on the counter to be dried. he finished them up faster then expected.
with that done, he turned to vanessa. one of his favorite things in the world was just looking at her, finding a physical feature that he had never noticed before. it was getting harder to do the more he looked at her. but the time away gave him a second chance to memorize her face. cadence whined and nudged his hand. he looked down at her with a smile, scratching her head as she wagged her tail happily. well, i mean planning the party proved to be a good distraction. gave me something to think about while you were gone he didn't see the point of lying to her. he really had missed her, though he wasn't about to admit that he'd been sitting around and moping because he couldn't see her whenever he wanted to. that seemed really pathetic to him. he wondered, as he often used to, if relationships were always like this or if he'd gotten lucky. at the sound of his question, he shook his head in the amused sort of way. he did something he rarely ever did, mostly cause he was scared of chasing her away. but he wrapped his arms around her waist and rested his forehead on hers. i have the smartest and most beautiful woman in the world in my arms. if there were such thing as heaven on earth, this would definitely be it. he couldn't remember having ever said anything that romantic before. he almost blushed. but somehow, even the small amount of romanticness didn't seem like enough for nessie. she really did deserve better than him, but he would never have to strength to let her go. she wanted him and he wanted her. and for him, that was a good enough reason to selfishly keep her by his side, even if she so obviously could have done better then him. he smiled even more. Once the cleaning up - that she was in no way obliged to help with yet was going to even if someone argued the fact - had began she was rather thankful that Vince had opted for paper plates that could easily be tossed away when done with as opposed to ones that needed to be washed once done with. It took out a lot of the time and effort that was needed to make the place clean and tidy once more. Though really clean and tidy weren't necessities just something that she would love. Her place was always both of those things - clean and tidy - it was how she liked it so she ensured that it was like that more often than not. She wasn't a clean freak or anything like that, she was just someone who liked things to be tidy but when they weren't there was no freaking out about it - she had known more than one of those in her lifetime and she told herself that she was never going to be like that, no matter what, they were the kinds of people that others stayed away from in fear of bumping something and being the cause of a freak out. A small smirk came to her lips at Vince's words. "I like better things." In this case 'better things' for her simply meant things that weren't cleaning and involved the man that she had grown to love and adore. And Cadence, because the canine was there and Vanessa was not going to say or do anything to make her go away - she loved and adored her too, plus she came with Vince, they were like a package deal and she was more that okay with that. Plus Cadence was somewhat the cause of their relationship - or at least their meeting. If the tiny puppy hadn't been there that night then Vanessa might not have stopped in her tracks for so long and that meant that there was less chance of the two of them getting together - but then there was Sammi, the mutual friend that also helped. But really, who was to know what might have happened if the pup hadn't been there, or if she had been a little smarter and not gone to study at a fellow student's house located in the less desirable part of the city. No matter what, she was glad that it had all happened, frightening alley way and all. "Sounds like a plan." She said with a smile, grabbing the dish towel. The two of them finished in no time. She had worried about him while she had been away on tour with one of her bested friends in the world. She had been the one - maybe not the only one - who would drop everything to rush to his house if he wasn't feeling so great, if he'd been drinking or if he just needed someone. She had cared about him a lot and was willing to do almost anything for him - and she hoped that he had known that. Now she cared for him even more, she hadn't been aware that it was possible but she discovered that it was. She had since found out that he had missed her a great deal and that knowledge had made her very happy, but at the same time she had hoped that he hadn't missed her too much and driven himself crazy. "I missed you when I was away." She had, but she was certain that her missing him wasn't as much as he had missed her - she had had friends with her, or well friend but she had made some new ones and they were great. She was taken a little by surprise when he wrapped his arms around her waist, such closeness was something that wasn't all that common for them - at least not while standing in the kitchen. But she was not opposed to it, not one bit. "You are too sweet." She said as she lifted her arms and put her hands in either side of his face before planting a light kiss on his lips. "I don't know what I did to get someone so loving and sweet." His words had caused her to blush slightly and it could still be seen on her cheeks as she lowered her arms and wrapped them around him tightly. After a few moments she released him from the hug and looked into his eyes - they were one of her favourite things about him, they were so pretty - with a smile on her face. She was actually really happy about their relationship.
