| sometimes it made her roll her eyes, there were people in this city that were just now waking up, just now starting their days. she was just starting her five hour dance practices; they were starting a new dance, in a few weeks they were be performing. so her hectic days were just starting. five hours of learning new moves and a new routine, even new dancers, was enough to make her cherish this Sunday. they were starting George Balanchine's The Nutcracker, luckily she had been there long enough that her audition was not as stressful as she knew it could have been, plus she had danced for the director before and had been told that she would get a call as soon as the rest of the auditions were completed. she didn’t want to toot her own horn, but she was expecting a principal part.
she had been up since five, it was just something she was used to from dancing for so long. she had gone to work out, doing a spinning class and yoga, and weight lifting for two hours, before she made it home and showered, cleaned, and got herself pulled together again. she got her dogs on their leashes and headed out the door again. she was thankful for her Sunday’s off. she liked this time to walk around with her dogs. even if it was freezing out, she was bundled up and was determined to find coffee. she couldn’t get lunch, since she wasn’t leaving her animals outside hooked up to a hydrant or post. she would just have to get a coffee from a stand and walk back to the apartment after a while to get herself lunch.
she made her way from her harlem brownstone to the nearest coffee stand. she knew they would be out, it was cold but they were new Yorkers, this weather wasn’t something new to them. she finally got to one, after a chilly ten minute walk. she waited quietly in the line, people tried to keep away from her dogs, she had to roll her eyes; her dogs were friendly. dove, she was rather large.. but she was just a giant lap dog. cooper was a little hyper, but he was still just a puppy and Maggie was even tinier than what she was. it took ten more minutes to get to the front of the line and she ordered a regular, black coffee. once she got it and took a sip, the coffee wasn’t exactly the best, so she jazzed it with a packet of sugar and two creams. she went on the way after that, taking a very welcomed sip of the hot liquid.

New York City was home and she loved it. She knew the ins and the outs of the city, she knew where to eat and where not to eat, where to see the best shows and where not to bother with. But that also came with her job, she needed to tell the hotel guests where they could see and do and taste all the best things. So it was safe to say that growing up in New York was most definitely an advantage to her job. She also knew where to get the best coffee - but that knowledge was not taken into account today while she was on her way to work. She had left early today, she had felt like a wander around, it had been a while since she had just walked around, especially in the parklands. She liked that area, it was nice and usually peaceful despite the number of people that were there. It sounded like a good place to spend the extra time she had before works. It was fairly cold out so River had made sure to put on an extra coat - one of her warmer ones - to ensure that she wasn't too cold, but then with her being a New York native the cold didn't bother her too much, but she knew that it was best to not let herself get too cold anyway, even if it didn't bother her. As she was wandering she passed a coffee stand. Yes, coffee would be a wonderful idea. So she backtracked a little and joined the line - behind a similarly rugged up woman who had three dogs with her. The dogs didn't bother her, but she saw that there was a few people who didn't really want to be too close to them, they were only dogs god damn it. River had to resist the urge to bend down and pet them all - it was rude to just go ahead and pet dogs that didn't belong to you, not to mention it was also dangerous because some dogs didn't like that. She was soon served and it wasn't long until she had a warm cup of coffee in her hands. She took a sip as she turned to continue on her walk. Maybe she should pay a little more attention to where she was walking, even when she was only turning around and taking a few steps, because she walked right into the woman who had been in front of her, the one with the dogs. "Oh crap, sorry." She said as she steadied herself, checking over her coat to see if she spilled any coffee on herself - she hadn't. Her eyes fell to the dogs and a small smile came to her lips. "I'm sorry, you're dogs are adorable, can I pet them?" Yeah, she was a strange one. But at least she asked right?
