| stone walked down the sidewalk, phone to his ear, his ten year old son at his side. ”listen frank… we know they’re going to sell their business to us, that’s their business though, these people have been building this company a good portion of their lives… so we’re going to offer them a nice portion.” he paused, looking down at jasper. ”we’ll deal with it on Monday… yes, you heard me.. Monday..” he paused again, listening to the man on the other end. ”you know I keep my weekends open for jasper and my weekend started when I picked him up earlier… go home, spend time with your wife and kids.. I’ll see you Monday morning.” he said in a tone that hinted maybe he shouldn’t be questioned. finally he hung up and looked at jasper again with a small wink and a crooked smile, that was mirrored back to him.
they were just going for a walk, something stone liked to do before they went home for dinner. they were both bundled up and ready to battle the cold as they walked towards their home. they passed several people and stone didn’t hesitate to put his hand on the back of jasper, making sure the boy stayed close to him. they passed a dog walker, that had at least fifteen dogs, but he couldn’t count that fast. he sighed, knowing exactly what was coming next. ”dad… I think we should get a dog.” jasper said in a diplomatic voice, looking longingly at the group of dogs. stone gave him a small smirk. ”I know you think that.. but if we get a dog, then one of us will have to take care of it…and I work all day and you go to school…” he said clapping the boy on his back. jasper looked up at his father, those blue eyes that killed him slowly. ”I’ll think about it… but a dog is a huge responsibility.. you have to walk it, feed it, water it…. and a whole bunch of other stuff..” he said softly.
jasper let out a sigh almost identical to his father’s. ”I know… but I would take care of it… and play with it…grandma says every little boy needs a dog…” he said with a raise of his eyebrows. stone let out a deep laugh. ”did grandma say that? did she also tell you that I’ve never had a dog.. and I think I turned out pretty well.” he teased ruffling his hair. he already thought of getting him a puppy for his birthday, but he didn’t even know where to start or what kind would be good. he would have to ask rebecca, his secretary to research that for him.

CARMEN HOWELL | |
So many things were on her mind lately. Her mother was worried about her father and would called Carmen once a day to let her know how things were going on the farm. She admitted she missed being on the farm and around the horses but her life didn't revolve around the horse racing business anymore. Who knew her life would change so drastically when she became a model. It took her world by storm and she got big in no time flat. She knew her parents weren't exactly fans about her chosing modeling instead of the family business but she had to do what she needed to do. She didn't want to disapoint her parents either because she knew they wanted her to take over the farm but she thought she could at least do her thing for at least half of her life before she was obligated to take it over. However, with her fathers health slowly deteriorating, that time may be sooner then she thought.
After a heavy conversation with her mother, Carmen decided she wanted to get out and go for a walk. She knew it was cold outside but bundling up and running down to the nearest coffee shop, she could warm up with a hot drink and then make her way back to her apartment. So when she got to the coffee shop, she ordered a cappachino and decided she would rather drink it at home. It just was too cold for her really that she just wanted to be at home, cuddling in a blanket sitting in front of her little fireplace in her apartment.
Walking at her normal, quick pace, she began heading back to her apartment. Her mind was in a million different places but always ended up finding its way back to her family. In a way she felt like she had deserted them when she decided to come up here to New York. Growing up she always loved the idea of taking over the farm. Horses were her life and she was a natural when it came to being around them. Sure, she would have to learn how to be the 'boss' lady but hey, that all came with time. But could she really leave all this? New York really was an amazing city and her job as a model was great. She had gotten some really spectacular opportunities as well. Carmen really did love her job here and was naturally good at it. She had a body that was meant for modeling.
Lost in her own mind and thoughts, she was just walking to walk. Her legs seemed to just carry her, not really having any real destination at that moment. Because of this, she had no idea she was about to run right into a man who was walking towards her.
Bam!
It wasn't like it was hard or anything but coffee ended up all over her. It was hot and ended up all over her blouse and possibly all over the man she ran into. Relieved she did not end up falling to the ground, she immediately started to apologize. "Oh my god! I am so sorry. She immediately started blotting at his chest with her jacket. Better her clothing then the man's who she ran into. This was all her fault and she felt like a complete ass. "I will pay to have it cleaned. I am so sorry."

| Stone was amused by his son and had already emailed his secretary his question. What would be a good dog breed? He was a little surprised when she already emailed him back. Really? Did she never leave? He would have to make sure she took time off, he didn’t need to replace her because she got burnt out on work. Apparently, she suggested just letting him pick the dog out himself. Maybe take on a rescue dog, that way he would maybe feel somewhat responsible for the dog. Stone sent her a quick email, thank her and then telling her to get home. She should be there after he left.
He was still looking at his phone, listening to Jasper talking. He nodded his head, humming and hawing at him, even though he was actually listening to him. He was vaguely aware that Jasper was trying to get his attention, he was trying to find about different shelters and whether or not they should go to a rescue that specialized with pure breeds or maybe just a regular shelter with your average everyday mutts. He felt a tug at his elbow ”Dad.. watch out…” The next thing he knew someone ran into him. He was shocked and even more shocked when he felt the hot liquid on his hands. He hadn’t put his gloves on since he was messing with his phone. He saw the hair and assumed it was a lady. His hands went out to steady her, just to make sure she didn’t fall.
He smirked very slightly when he realized she was trying to dry him up with her clothes. He immediately grabbed her hands to stop her. ”It’s fine.” His voice was serious, but there was a tone to it that was all business. He let go of her hands, luckily he did have his jacket on and it was buttoned. Jasper was giggling and had taken a step back when it happened, but was now next to his father again. ”It’s fine.. it’s just a jacket, not that important.” Okay so his jacket was expensive, but with the amount of money he made every day, he could buy ten brand new jackets like this one and still not dent his bank accounts.
He looked at her carefully for a moment. She was attractive, blonde. She was beautiful if he was going to be honest. Jasper looked at his father, then at the blonde. His bright blue eyes danced with amusement. ”If anyone should be paying to get clothes cleaned it should be me…” he commented seriously. ”I wasn’t paying attention, fiddling with my phone…” He said simply. He was serious as he spoke. ”Plus, you look a great deal better than I do.” he added with a small smirk. Jasper nudged his dad with a small laugh. ”I tried to warn you..” He said with a grin. Stone gave his son a look, but there was a small smirk attached to it. ”Yeah.. thanks Jasper..” He said smoothly to his son. He wasn’t sure what to do. This wasn’t something that usually happened to him. He looked at her, realizing that her drink was gone now, because he wasn’t paying attention. ”Let me get you a new drink?” he questioned. If she wanted to turn him down, he would understand. But, he left it was the least he could do. |

CARMEN HOWELL | |
If you were to have asked Carmen how she thought her day would go, she would never have thought it would have gone like it has. First the call from her mother, and now this. She couldn't believe how clumsy she was or even how she had not seen the man in the first place. She was kicking herself for everythign so far. Luckily she hadn't fallen but a lot of that was thanks to the guy she ran into. He reached out and steadied her, which she was very thankful for. Carmen didn't even notice the guy smirking as she attempted to blot his clothing dry with her own, which didn't really seem to be doing that great of a job anyway. She gasped when the man grabbed her hand, "It's fine." She was a little taken back by the seriousness in his tone and she looked at him, her blue eyes bright. He then let her hand go, "It's fine...it's just a jacket, not that important." Carmen gave a silent sigh of relief. She was so thankful that he wasn't angry, or at least didn't seem to be angry.
She didn't even realized the man had a small boy with him until she finally took a deep breath and let herself relax slightly. She couldn't believe she did that and was still upset with herself. She looked back at the man, whom seemed to be looking at her as well. He was very handsome. One of those successful handome business man type of looks. She was far too distracted to really gather any other information about him. Normally she would have looked him over and possibly flirted just a little but since this guy had a child with him, who was probably his, she left it alone. "If anyone shoudl be paying to get clothes cleaned it should be me..." Carmen raised a brow. What would he? She was the one that caused this whole mess. His tone was serious again and she shifted slightly. "I wasn't paying attention, fiddling with my phone..Plus, you look a great deal better than I do." She caught the smirk on his face and let herself relax a bit more, giving him a small smile, blushing slightly as well. She wasn't sure if that was just him being nice or if he was possibly flirting with her.
"I tried to warn you..." A little young voice spoke up. She looked down and gave the child a smile and then back to the man who had another smirk on his lips. She couldn't help but flash one back. He had such a gorgeous smile. She wondered if he had done any modeling. She knew a lot of people who would pay for that smile. She lightly chuckled to herself. Of course she had to resort to that at a time like this. "Let me get you a new drink?" Oh, she hadn't even thought about getting another one. Knowing her luck she would do something to spill that too. "Oh you don't need to do that sir, it was just a coffee." She says that now after all of her coffee ended up on her and now was a hot sticky mess. She giggled at the thought, "I don't think anyone would want me going into their shops now." She motioned to herself and her very messy frontside. "I am so sorry again." She felt horrible still.

| Stone normally would be angry, but he wasn’t going to lose his temper with his son standing there or with this pretty blonde. He flashed her a smile, wanting to show that he wasn’t angry. He wasn’t going to set his son up to be aggressive, just because he could get aggressive didn’t mean that his son needed to be. He ran his fingers through his brown curls, just a habit of his, giving him a sexy messed up look to him.
She said he didn’t need to get her coffee, but he wasn’t about to give up that easily. He wouldn’t force her, but he didn’t care what the coffee shops thought. Normally, if he knew this woman, he would just offer to buy her a new outfit. He wasn’t exactly a selfless man, but he felt like he needed to make up for his mistake. He ran his fingers through his hair again, trying to think. ”Don’t be sorry.” the serious tone was back again. ”I don’t think people will care.” He stopped for a moment with the signature smirk came up again. He pulled off his jacket and pulled off his suit jacket. ”Here, put this on… you’ll look like a classy coffee goer.” he said with a deep chuckle. He draped his suit jacket over her shoulders and pulled his outer jacket back on.
”Now. How about that new coffee?” he asked He looked down at Jasper, making sure his son didn’t mind. The little boy was watching with an amused look on his face, his blue eyes bright. He was enjoying this. For all he knew, his father didn’t even talk to women. He didn’t even remember the last time something like this happened, if it ever did. Only girls he had seen his father interact with were his grandma and his aunts.
He thought for a moment and wondered if she was actually in a hurry. Or if she would even be interested in the coffee. He didn’t mean anything about it. But, he also knew the women weren’t exactly thrilled when you tried to boss them around or take control like that. He also knew that people assumed constantly that he was married because of his money and because he had a ten year old son. Apparently you couldn’t be a rich, single father. Jasper piped in again with a small grin. dad can I get a hot chocolate?, please” he asked. Stone raised his eyebrow slightly. Jasper wasn’t a hot chocolate kind of kid. it was probably his own fault. he never had the drink around, he always had coffee or cappuccinos, or teas. when they had hot chocolate it was because they were somewhere else. he nodded his head softly at the young boy. ”of course..” he said simply. he looked back at the pretty blonde, waiting. wondering. ”I’m Stone.. by the way… and this is my son, Jasper.” he said simply. He never gave his first name, or his surname just because he knew a lot of people hated him for his success.

CARMEN HOWELL | | This man was handling the situation well she thought. Most people in New York were always in a hurry and got angry at the littlest things. The way this man was so calm and cool about everything made her curious. Maybe he was just doing it for his son. But maybe it was just how he was. Ellie wasn't really sure. When she said he didn't neeed to do that, buying her a new coffee, it didn't seem like this guy was going to take no for an answer. But she still had to say she was sorry, she felt like such a clutz for running into this man with such carelessness. "Don't be sorry." His tone was serious. She wasn't really sure how to take the tone. "I don't think people will care." She saw the smirk and couldn't help but blush and smirk back. Before she could answer back the man was pulling off his jacket and began to drape the jacket over her shoulders. "Here, put this on...you'll look like a classy coffee goer." She took the sides of the jacket and pulled it closer to her. She could smell the scent of the man and honestly it was almost soothing. "Thank you, sir." She blushed again, giving a smile.
"Now. How about that new coffee." She grinned at his question. "Okay, but I owe you one." Ellie was still taken back from the events. She ran into a man and got coffee everywhere yet he was the one wanting to buy her a new coffee. Her eyes followed the mans to his son and gave him a smile. He was a cute child. "You don't mind do you?" Her question was clearly towards the young boy.
"Dad, can I get a hot chocolate? Please." Eleanor smiled and giggled lightly. She listened as the man spoke, watching him. "Of cousre.." Their eyes then met, her cheeks grew warm and then looked away not wanting to stare too long. "I'm Stone..by the way...and this is my son, Jasper." She looked back to him, locking on his eyes again. "Nice to meet you Stone. Jasper." She looked down at the boy and then back to Stone. "I am Eleanor." She gave a smile and then turned to stand beside them, "Shall we go?"

| Stone saw the blush coming to her cheeks and he smirked a little. She was pretty, maybe if she wasn’t as pretty, he would just be a little hateful, but luckily he was a very… understanding person when it came to pretty women. He brushed off her comment when she said that she owed him. Yeah, like that was going to happen. He normally never let a woman pay, no matter what, his mother and sisters never paid when he was around, he would never make someone pay for a drink that was spilled because of him.
He tried not to let his surprise show when she clearly was addressing Jasper, asking him if it was okay that she was coming. He had never actually let his son meet any women that were potential, however, this was just coffee. He looked at Jasper, who seemed just as surprised as he was. The little boy shrugged his shoulders slightly, giving such a non-committal gesture. He basically answered the question with his own question gestured towards his dad.
Stone wasn’t one to shy away from anything. He was the sort of man who was used to getting exactly what he wanted. He didn’t look away when she did, instead he looked at her closely, her blush was amusing. He was still looking at her when she looked back at him, he smirked again. ”It’s a pleasure to meet you, Eleanor.” he said her with a smile. Jasper gave her a smile before he started to walked to the coffee shop, holding the door open for both her and Jasper.
Luckily for them the line was relatively short and they only had to stand in line for a few minutes before they were up there, he let her order, before he order the hot chocolate for Jasper and a regular black coffee for himself. He was polite and cordial with the barista, he paid and tipped nicely for both of them. He stepped aside, waiting for their drinks. When they came he handed what she ordered to her, and carefully handed Jasper his hot chocolate, warning him that the drink was hot and the little boy looked at him, with a look that clearly showed that he already knew that the hot chocolate was hot. He took his drink finally and gave her a small smirk, lifting his drink to her.
