ROMAN TYLER GATES
[attr="class","apphoverbox"]
Roman comes from a long line of military men and women. Of course, his father was very happy to have a son so that he could teach him how to be a strong, respectful man himself. Growing up, Roman of course was referred to a military brat. Moving from place to place was pretty normal for him. He did his best at making friends but never really getting attached to anyone. He knew it was part of the military life but he was tired of having to make new friends so often. Finally, he just accepted it and started to seem almost cold to people. His attitude changed. He started to just push people away and not let anyone into his life, it was better that way he thought. It was easy to leave places when you had no one to miss, or that was his logic. Sure, it wasn't healthy for him not to have any friends, ever, but he figured it would just be easier, until his family found a place where they would be for a while.
Which, it did happen, or at least his father said they would. He was a junior in high school and they promised him that they would stay in this place so he could graduate from high school. That was when he started letting people into his life, of course, it took a few months for him to really open up to anyone, scared it was just too good to be true. This is where he met his best friend, Josaphina. She was such a sweet girl but when he saw her and was around her he had a hard time leaving. He was completely drawn to her. Of course, he was afraid to really admit to any feelings as he didn't want this to be taken away either. They were best of friends and did everything together but Roman couldn't find a way to ask her to be more. He didn't want to lose the friendship they already had so he was content with the way things were.
That is until senior year. They spent all of that summer together and his feelings had grown. He felt th need to protect her from everything and of course he was jealous when she got a boyfriend. He felt as if he lost his chance. There was no way Roman would take that happiness away from her so he again was content with just being her friend but keeping a close eye on her to protect her. Just when things seemed to be ending with the guy she was with, which of course Roman was okay with, everything came spiraling down. His father got new orders and they had to move, again. This made Roman furious. He only had a few months left of school and he would graduate. His parents apologized constantly but they had to leave.
Telling Josaphina was the hardest thing he had ever had to do. He took her to the park where they loved to hang out and had a little picnic with her. She of course knew something was wrong because of how Roman was acting. He was quiet and standoffish, trying to figure out how he was going to tell her. In the end, he just came out with it. She broke down crying and grabbed him in a tight hug and they held each other for a while. Still so angry with everything he had to leave, he had to get out of here before he ended up breaking down as well. He left her with a long kiss, something he had only dreamed of but always wanted it to be right. Well, he ran out of time and had to do it in a way he hoped he would never have to do. He kissed her and then backed away, still holding her hand for that last second and said he loved her. A tear rolled from his eyes and he turned and walked away. He hated it. He hated his life.
Roman ended up graduating from his last school with no friends again. He was cold and emotionless. He would never let that happen again. Roman will forever love Josaphina and will probably never allow himself to love anyone else. Because of his family history, he joined the marines. He hated it at first but as the years went on, he grew to love it and would not be the man he is today without it. He has a real family that will always be there for him and he would never give that up. Of course, he still has that picture of Josaphina kept in his uniform so that she will always be there with him and so that he won't forget her.
