XRIS ALLEN REID
[attr="class","apphoverbox"]
if you knew xris, you knew that growing up he was such a outgoing child. he grew up in a neighborhood with lots of children to play with. his parents loved him and spoiled him. in eighth grade he met the woman whom he would marry later down the line. they became high school sweet hearts and he couldn't have been happier. they were the dream couple. they had what everyone else wanted. everything about them was perfect. but he joined the military after high school as michelle went to college. he was shipped out and was starting his life in the army. him and michelle spoke all the time and kept in contact and he would take leave to go home and see her. everything was fine. until that day....
iraq. 2010. xris and his squad went on patrol. some in humvees some on the ground, where he was. they were going into the city and doing patrols, making sure everything was okay. but it wasn't okay. nothing was okay about that day. they were bombarded. shots rang out everywhere. men ran for cover. a bullet had grazed his arm but right then, nothing serious. so he fired back. hours went on and finally things were dying down. he had ran to another position moment before and now everything was silent. and BAM, a flash granade went off and another one blew him from his position. he could hear nothing. he could see nothing. but soon, he was hit on the head hard with something metal and he was knocked unconcious. when he awoke, he was in hell.
him and five other men had been taken hostage by the enemy. they were sitting in chairs blindfolded and arms and legs bound together. nico had struggled to get free but he was soon tazard. he let out a scream but it was to no avail. he was now in hell. he was their captive. after days of sitting there in the chair with no food and little water, they were moved again, heads still covered. xris could hear screams beside him as the enemy tortured each one of them. soon they were then moved to a big cell where finally their hoods were removed, but they remainded tied. they were now a prisoner of war, and would not see or hear from anyone for years.
many years of beatings and whipings went by. xris has scares running down his back, chest, arms, and legs. his wrists had scared of the wire that bound them together as do his legs. dried blood caked his body. out of the five men only three would return. two of the other men, whom he did not know before being locked together with them, were tortured beyond belief and then beheaded or hung. he was one of the lucky ones where he was just whiped, beaten, tazed, cut, pissed on, yelled at, and starved.
after numerous years, xris and the other two were saved by the american armed forces. they bombed the buildings, thankfully the three of them were in a underground dungeon of places. they were rescued and flown directly to a us military base where they were debriefed and immediately sent to get looked after. their cuts had produced infections and they were very malnurished. they looked like they were on their death bed. but xris will be the first to tell anyone, that it was the thoughts and memories of his wife that kept him alive and fighting. if he did not have her, he would have given up a long time ago. but he knew he needed to get back to her. michelle needed him.
since being back, xris has suffered from major depression and horrible ptsd. every loud noise freaks him out, cramped spaces scare him and now he is scared of the dark. he has horrible nightmares every night and can hardly sleep. xris has taken part in an orginization who pair soldiers with dog companions that are called thir 'battle buddies'. atlas, his 2 year old male german shephard, is trained to wake him up when he is having a nightmare and stand guard at doors while he sleeps. he is there to help him through everything.
and that is where the story now takes place back in new york, where it all began. it was his home. he was put on extended leave and sent home. no, he ran home. it had been four years and counting since he had seen his wife. he wasn't sure what she would do or say. he had been told that he was put as in MIA and then as dead. he needed to see her. he needed to tell her that he was fighting for her. but he was scared she would deny him. he was just a ghost of the man he used to be. a lot of things had changed. would she still accept him?
