FREYA VIOLA NORLING
[attr="class","apphoverbox"]
headstrong: freya is the kind of person who knows what she wants and how to get there. she's very independent and relies very little on others. if there is something she could do with her own two hands, then she would rarely ask for help unless it is beyond her control. she believes in tough love and being a strong person. she mostly expects this from others as well. if you can't hold your ground, and you're constantly unsure of yourself, she will either a.) teach you how to be confident or b.) shun you. she will always stand by what she believes in unless you have the facts and logic to convince her otherwise. she's the kind of girl who doesn't give up and is quite the logical thinker. she'll think things through before she does them. she's a force to be reckoned with.
outgoing: she is extremely friendly. she'll usually be anyone's friend and is always the first one to start a conversation. she is easy to get along with and she'll most likely accept you with open arms. if you're the type who's always stuttering, unsure of yourself then it's fine… IF it's outside of work. she doesn't care what type of person you are. as long as you don't mind having her as a friend, then she'll welcome you with open arms. in a workplace environment, however, you can definitely expect some tough behaviour from her. in general though, she's quite loving. she loves to have fun, so she doesn't mind chatting up strangers and make new friends.
leader: freya was born to lead. she's the type of person that no matter what she does, people will follow. mainly because she knows how to take charge of a situation, be quick on her feet and think of a solution. which is why she advanced so quickly to become an advanced nurse practitioner. she studies hard and she knows how to apply her studies into her work. she's a quick learner and quick to help. she's not the type to delegate things. she'll say "okay, here's a list of what needs to be done and how to do it, let's go do it together." she isn't afraid to speak up and stand her ground. she never commands, only speaks her opinion. she has the kind of tone that you immediately know she knows what she's saying. there's a reason to it, and it's compelling. she's a decision maker, and she's creative despite her logical thinking in most situations. if something doesn't work, then she'll figure out a way to make it work.
neutral traits
confidence: some people think confidence is a good thing and some think it's bad. however, you need to have a balance when it comes to being confident. too much makes you big headed, and too little and it makes you meek and easy to manipulate. freya has a way of balancing it out. she never boasts and rubs it in people's faces. if she's achieved something, she'll smile and say thank you, but it never goes beyond that. however, she would never let anyone push her around or for a split second think that she's meek. she is anything but that. she is confident in what she says and what she does. she runs scenarios in her head a million of times before she applies it into real life. in a way, she's a bit of a perfectionist. the only reason she goes through it so many times in her head is because she wants to avoid mistakes and know what she's doing. there's no room for mistakes and second guessing. she knows that if she does it or say it, she would have to back it up a hundred percent.
sympathetic: she could come off as a cold hearted bitch to most people when they first meet her. mostly because she is tough and hard on people. however, she is quite sympathetic. if you're not bullshitting her and lying to her face, she would understand and sympathize. she would never question you unless you give her reason to. she's compassionate towards all of her patients and has the patience of a saint when she's taking care of them. she's an empathetic person, so she hates seeing people suffer or feel dejected. she knows when she's pushing someone too far. if she catches herself doing so, or she feels that someone is overwhelmed with her tough love motto, she'll soften up and tread lightly.
chameleon: freya could blend in anywhere, any crowd. she adapts to change quite easily and blends in with the crowds quite well. she's able to find common ground with most people. she could fit into any group of people or even with just one person. mainly because she's so personable. she's easy to talk to, which allows her to become chameleon-like. if she wants you to notice her in a room, she'll make that happen. if she just wants to lay low, she knows how to make herself invisible (not literally)
negative traits
wild child & adrenaline junkie: she loves to have fun. she loves going out with a bunch of friends for a few drinks and let loose. she's quite reckless when it comes to herself. she's spontaneous and quite often, doesn't care what happens to her. she'll lie in the middle of the street in the middle of the night, or she'll break into someone's backyard pool. she justifies this with "i just want to make memories." which is mostly true. she loves the thrill and seeks to feel the rush. which explains why she chose such a fast paced career. she would pretty much try anything that doesn't harm her internal organs. nothing drug or cigarette related, but she would never turn down a challenge or dare. and being the reckless person that she is outside of work, she often says what's on her mind- which more often than not, gets her into a lot of trouble. but she doesn't care. "it's part of the fun."
workaholic: despite her tendency to party like her life depended on it, she's actually quite the workaholic. she dedicates a lot of her time to the hospital and her patients. she cares deeply for them, and would come in any time they needed her. she rarely takes a day off, which is why when she does have a day off, she acts like a wild child. she is always on call if the general doctor isn't there or answering. because she performs the duties above a nurse and slightly lower than an actual doctor, she is able to treat and release most patients unless otherwise specified. most of the time, if you messaged her or asked her to hang out, she'd tell you she's busy working. you'd have to book in extreme advance to catch a break with her. if she's not working, she's always studying medical journals and textbooks. it may make her seem smart, but she's actually not that smart. that's jonas. he's the smart one. she just studies hard. really hard.

HISTORY
freya was born on a chilly afternoon in brunswick, maine. december twenty eight at 2:26pm to be exact. she was the first norling child born out of stockholm, sweden, but she was definitely not the last. she was, however, the youngest girl in the family. she had three siblings; gry was the eldest, then there was josef, herself, and lastly, jonas. the perfect family. two boys and two girls. she was the one with both an age gap between her older siblings and her younger brother. five years younger than her older brother, and six years older than her younger brother. she had always been the wild child of the family. the one who wanted to break free from this "picture perfect family." she loved her family and she would do anything for them. she cared deeply for them, but sometimes she thought that there was something more than just family. even through her childhood, she had been the trouble maker. so unlike her brother and sister. even before jonas was born. she hated anything that was remotely boring. she was active and curious and did whatever she thought was interesting or fun. she was definitely the odd one out out of her three siblings. she wasn't ambitious and a perfectionist like her older sister. gry was the typical eldest child. she wasn't athletic like josef. sure, she was active, and she played sports, but she wasn't great like josef. and she was definitely not like her younger brother jonas. she was not a braniac. he was the one with the straight a's. he was kind and everything good. freya was reckless. she didn't care about consequences. she just did them.
as she grew older, however, she matured. she learned to differentiate when she needed to care about the consequences. she knew that she needed to be logical and think before she acted. that didn't stop her from wanting to be everyone's friend though. she was always getting herself into trouble, somehow. freya loved sports, especially since josef played. she knew what she was talking about. she understood most sports which was how she got along so well with her guy friends. she was one of the boys. she could hang around them and they didn't have to worry about her whining about anything or giving them the puppy dog eyes. she was self sufficient and she was fun. she was also girly in the sense that she liked shopping and she liked nail polish and talking about boys which is how she got along with the girls. life in high school was great for her. she wasn't, by any means, the popular girl. didn't want to be even if they handed it to her on a silver platter. however, she was relatively infamous at school. which is what brought on the popular girls to rain havoc on her. of course, being the reckless girl that she was, freya always gave it back as good as she got which only pissed them off even more, but no matter. she always stood up for herself and she never let anyone get the upper hand. this continued all through high school. she never mentioned it to her brothers or sister because it wasn't something she couldn't handle. if it was out of control and she needed help, she would have gotten it, but she didn't. in fact, she found it quite amusing what extent the girls would go to make her life miserable and failing.
freya was only sixteen when the incident with josef happened. she had actually been home for once. normally, she would sneak out to see her friends, but she was home that day. she could remember it like it was yesterday. she could tell you what outfit she wore, what time of day it was when they received a call from the hospital. it was awful, the news. the fire, so bright, so big. it was terrifying for her to watch and even more chilling when she found out both her brother and eloise were in there. they said it was the wet hay. jonas seemed to think that's not what happened. she didn't know what to believe. some thought it was arson. that someone started the fire on purpose, but she couldn't seem to figure out anyone who would have the motive to do so. josef was like her. he was friendly and loving. people cared for him. he was a cherished star. it was hard to believe that anyone would want to kill him or eloise. she didn't want to believe it was arson, but she didn't want to believe it was an accident either because she wanted someone to blame. someone to be angry with for making her brother end up this way. for what they did to him. her brother had ended up in a coma and freya wanted to put whoever was responsible for the fire in a coma too. the norlings spent every day visiting josef until he woke, but even when he did, he wasn't the same. he wasn't the josef that everyone knew. especially since eloise didn't make it through the incident. he would sulk in his room, and he wouldn't confide in anyone. no one knew how to approach the situation. sometimes, freya would just sit outside of josef's room, just to make sure there was some sign of him still alive. she didn't know what to say to him or if he even wanted company. sometimes she'd sit there for hours, sometimes for a few minutes, and sometimes she would end up falling asleep on the floor next to his room door.
eventually, it got better. sort of… he was still sad, but he was making an effort to do something with his life. for freya, on the other hand, it only seemed to get worse. she was at constant battle with the popular girls. she was reckless with who she dated. she was never cautious with her trust. she gave it freely, and only ended up with it broken. she was rebellious, and she gave no regards for her personal well being. but, she still managed to get herself out of high school and into university. there, she met her current best friends. they were older than her by a few years, but somehow, they just got along with one another. they guided her, helped her to become more mature with what she did, what she could be. she could never shake the wild child part of her, but she could control it. she knew when to find the balance for it. and so, she studied. very hard. she finished her bachelor of science first before moving straight into her master's. she worked extremely hard to get to where she was, to finish school so quickly and advance into being a nurse practitioner. school was easy for her because she was able to study for it, to prepare herself for it. her relationships, on the other hand, was the opposite. it seemed she had a bad taste in men. she met a man by the name of connor. dangerous, brooding, mysterious and handsome. just her type. she was naive and blinded by her lust and affection. with her uncle and two brothers leaving her and gry behind for las vegas, she had no one to look out for her but her best friends. they had never intervened with her relationships. never thought too much of it. they did not approve any of them, but most of them had been harmless. except this one. connor was a smooth talker, he was good at getting what he wanted and deceiving people. he was cunning; he was able to con anyone into thinking his intentions were good. freya fell in love with him the moment she saw him.
it was a cliche, really. after finishing her masters, she got a permanent position at the hospital as a nurse practitioner. he was just a patient. his injuries were serious. a motorcycle accident, he had said. nothing permanent, just multiple broken bones. she tended after him day in and day out because that was the kind of person freya was. she fretted over people. they talked all the time, and she was hooked. by the time they blossomed their relationship, it had already been too late. he was obsessive and possessive. her best friends had tried to get her away from him, but it only made things worst. connor was always angry. he always wanted something more from her, and when she wouldn't give it to him, he'd get angry and hit her. she's tried to leave, but nothing worked. he always had control over her and what she did or where she went. there was nothing she could do. she tried to please him, to make him less angry, but she wasn't ready for anything sexual. she was wild, and she was a tease, but she wasn't a whore. she never slept with anyone. never went anywhere further than second base and he hated that. hated the way men looked at her when they were out. she couldn't tame his anger. she made him wait too long. and one day, during a party they went to, he got help from two of his friends. one of the three blind folded her, duct taped her mouth while the other tied her down to the bed in a room upstairs and the three of them had their wicked way with her. they alternated holding her down. to keep her from kicking. by the time luca and graham got there, it was already too late. of course, the two of them hadn't let them go without injuries, but freya never reported them to the police despite luca and graham's protests. she couldn't come forward to the stands. she knew what they'd make her do. they'd make her go to court and make statements. she'd have paparazzi trying to get her to tell them her story. she didn't want to testify. the three of them already had lasting injuries, that was justification enough. but it was hard for her to continue her day. to go back to work and pretend it never happened. she started eating less and sleeping less. she was restless and her lack of appetite was obvious to her best friends. so when vidar, josef and jonas told her that they were moving to new york, she didn't hesitate to accept. she needed to leave her hometown before she could listen to the rumour mill work its magic. she needed something different. she needed to get out. both luca and graham agreed that it would be good for her to get out of brunswick. so she packed her bags and left. little does she know, she was leaving with more than just her bags and luggage. she was with child. a child that freya would have no idea who it belonged to or who the father would be.
